Since becoming a licensed attorney, Nisha has owned and operated the Law Office of Nisha G. Williams, focusing on family law and criminal litigation. In addition to her work with her law office and NCCADV, Nisha serves as Special Counsel with the NC Office of Special Counsel, representing individuals who have been involuntarily committed.

She is particularly noted for her role as the defense attorney in State v. Berish (2018) a landmark case in North Carolina that established the ability for restorative justice processes to occur prior to trial in violent felony cases, encouraging broader application of such models in the state’s Superior Courts.

With a passion for ending domestic violence, advocating for juvenile justice reform, and promoting racial equity in the criminal justice system, Nisha is deeply engaged in advocacy efforts that aim for systemic change.
